'A goal is a dream with a
deadline' ~
Napoleon
Hill
"Don't say you don't have enough
time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day
that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo,
Mother Teresa, Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and
Albert Einstein." ~
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Don't
let this year pass you by without maximising all your
goals. Setting clear goals and aspirations will keep you
motivated in life, no matter how small the
goal.
- Any time is
a good time to set goals, but the beginning of the year
coincides with new year
resolutions. - Make sure
you write your goals down - it will reinforce and help
make you stick to them. Also ensure you put
them somewhere you can see them
regularly. -
Don't have
too many goals, stick to the big, important goals to
ensure you do not lose focus. It's tricky with a
child/ren so keep your list
realistic! - Follow the
SMART model below when setting
goals.
|
S
= Specific |
Make
sure your goals are straightforward and
clear.
Incorporate 'what', 'why' and 'how' in each
goal. |
|
M
= Measurable |
You
must set exact measurables against each goal. If it's not
measurable then it can't be managed. |
|
A
= Attainable |
Goals
must be within your reach and achievable.
|
|
R
= Realistic |
You
must be realistic when setting goals - don't make
them too easy, but if they are not realistic you
will lose motivation. |
|
T
= Timely |
Ensure
you set clear timelines for achieving each goal -
this will ensure you stay committed. | And
don't forget that a healthy body and mind will ensure
have the tools to make it a great year for you and your
family.
