As a student at Waikato University, Danny Ing recognised the potential of the Internet as this was the first tertiary institution to get it. With a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Marketing and Accounting, Danny Ing went on to achieve first class honours. Later he became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, after just 2.5 months of additional study.
Danny then developed ePublisher, a software program that allowed people with no technical expertise to create and email their own marketing documents, for which he won the Marketing Association Nexus Gold award.
After launching Datum Connect in 2002, Danny chose to go by the general title of 'founder', because his role is doing "whatever it takes to make the business work".
A keen follower of fashion, he has travelled to New York City Fashion week and is part owner of Monarch Models. Danny also enjoys martial arts and hip hop dancing.
As for his business, Danny believes that while the internet brings unprecedented opportunity, it also lays traps for unsuspecting businesses. "I make sure at Datum Connect the focus is on technology that generates real value."
