"92.3% of respondents rated the content between good and excellent"
The comments I’ve been getting back have been fantastic
With a segmented demographic ranging from people aged 18 to those in their 50s, Speed Date Limited not only needed website functionality -- like an integrated online booking system – the company also needed a strong online presence.
Managing Director Verity Molloy says the company had an existing website when she purchased the business, but it was fairly basic, and an attempt to build another website didn’t work because the developers were unable to realise her vision. It was then that she started working with Datum Connect.
“My vision was for a website that was sexy, edgy and fun. It had to work for my very diverse market demographics. I wanted to create a feel for the brand online.
“It was also important that the design add to the presence of Speed Date Ltd’s logo, which is fairly colourful. But the website also had to work hard and convert.”
Together Speed Date Ltd and Datum Connect built www.speeddate.co.nz.
“The first site was awesome, but it wasn’t converting. We re-worked the site to add tiles, video and a new design. Now it has a fun, modern but professional feel to it. The site offers a booking system, membership application, gift voucher service, database marketing functionality and it integrates with professional speed date matching system software.
“The comments I’ve been getting back have been fantastic. In fact I just surveyed my database and 92.3% of respondents rated the content between good and excellent.”
85% of those that responded to the Speed Date Ltd survey rated the ease of booking as good to excellent (5.8% marked not applicable) and 82.7 of respondents also rated the site’s navigation as good to excellent.
Verity says one of the best things she did was buy 11 URLs relating to the dating game, such as aucklandspeeddate.co.nz and aucklandspeeddating.co.nz, and point all the URLs to the website, leading to a huge increase in traffic.
Together with Datum Connect’s Danny Ing, they came up with the ‘Hottest Guy and Hottest Girl’ concept. At each speed dating event 12 women and 12 men are matched. The Hottest Guy and Hottest Girl goes to the two who got the most ‘would like to see again’ mentions.
“’Hottest Girl Hottest Guy’ attracts people back to the website after the event because everybody wants to see who it was. I am able to monitor the traffic and can see it happening, because one of the good things with Datum Connect is you can see the scoreboards and the progress your site is making,” says Verity.
The quality of Verity’s business, her leadership -- and the website – means everything is going very well.
“One of the best things I ever did was to go full time in my business and give it a full time focus. I love what I do and other people love what I do – I have countless success stories.
